The program Science News (Vetenskapsradion in Swedish) from the Swedish public service radio interviewed John about the jDome this Monday. They visited us at John's home and brought a test person used to gaming. And yes, they thought it was really cool; "...like being inside the game!"

jDome^TM participates at Dreamhack Skellefteå and PC Gamer Showdown at the same weekend!

We are proud to announce that the jDome^TM will participate at two events at the same weekend (the 26-28 of September). Dreamhack will exhibit their newly purchased jDome^TM prototype at Dreamhack Skellefteå in Sweden and the jDome crew has been invited to participate at the PC Gamer Showdown in the United Kingdom. This will indeed be a very exciting weekend for gamers at these events :-)

The monthly magazine Din Teknik has a four page article about the jDome in issue no 9! They tried the jDome in John's basement and the author of the article says: "To stand in front of the jDome is like taking a step into the game. The digital walls and ceiling surrounds your view totally and the surround sound adds to the feel of a world in three dimensions. This is an experience very different from what I usually experience in front of my ordinary 19 inch screen."

The first jDome^TM prototype has been sold to Dreamhack!

The first jDome prototype has been sold! It is Dreamhack—the world's largest computer festival—who is buying a jDome for 45000 SEK—approximately 4,500 Euro (The final consumer price is estimated to be approximately 150 Euro). By purchasing a prototype of jDome, Dreamhack will be able to let their visitors play games in an entirely new way already the fall of 2008.

The jDome is a half-spherical rear projection system which immerses the gamer inside the game world. Combining the jDome with off-the-shelf hardware and software, the jDome gives a low cost Omnimax-like gaming experience.

From the 11:th to 14:th of September Dreamhack will be exhibiting at Nordstan in Gothenburg, Sweden, and visitors will have the opportunity to try out the jDome innovation, which has received a lot of attention in news media, Youtube and the blogosphere, both national and international. During Dreamhack Winter the jDome will be present, both through the exhibiting jDome team and through Dreamhack, for visitors who want to try the experience of being totally immersed by their favorite games.

-We think this is a very cool way of playing computer games, and Dreamhack finds it very interesting to have its own jDome. It is of course very fun to buy the first one in the world! We will exhibit it at all our events, says Robert Ohlén, CEO Dreamhack.

- This is the proof of something we always felt since the start 4 months ago; that the idea is so good that the customer market is interested and will buy. Even though the jDome mainly is targeted towards home consumers, the jDome is of course very suitable in other situations as well, such as events like Dreamhack and gaming arenas, says John Nilsson, the inventor of jDome.

First Mod for jDome^TM released!

And it is a bit from the side as it isn't an FPS but WoW! The mod is developed by Erik "Eoset" Sällström - one of the Dreamhack guys!

Eriks spontaneus response when he tested World of Warcraft with jDome was: "This is how I want to play WoW!" and started to hack away at a mod while we still were attending Dreamhack, which can be seen briefly in the new Dreamhack Video Report.

Today it is offical and the swedish Metro had a supplementary paper about Dreamhack where jDome is shown!

As there where a lot of gameplay footage from Crysis in the promo movie, I thought it best to get approval from their publisher, EA, before going public with the jDome promo movie. The representative at EA came back with Crytek's blessing, and also said "I think the studio[Crytek] was very impressed". That, to me, is like having Steven Spielberg say: "I like your movie".
